I was born and raised in Kenya and came to the United States in the early 1990s, a little after graduating from high school. Currently, I am a student at the California State University, Hayward. Thus far, life at the University has been wonderful. I am enjoying my classes despite the busy schedule of being a full time-student as well as working full time. I plan to major in Finance and I hope to work for a Broking Company upon my graduation. My interests and hobbies are varied and include music, travel, movies and reading books.
I have learned so much in this class and my favorite topic thus far has been the Internet. It’s both useful and entertaining. I can do serious research and I can just as easily browse aimlessly for hours. Browsing can be addictive, and so I always set a time limit before I begin. Some of my favorite sites include:
- Daily Nation – This page provided direct access to the daily national newspaper in my native country, Kenya.
- Microsoft Corporation – Enables me to learn about the latest software from Microsoft and to download various Internet products.
- Netscape – Enables to stay up to date with Netscape.
- CBS – Provides links to current programs on CBS as well as immediate access to its News division.
- Fidelity Investments – This page is only “wishful thinking” since I don’t have any money to invest.
- Internet Movie Database – Searchable guide to all the movies there ever were. Also provided links to filmography on actors. However, The Movie Link not only provides a better link to all sorts of movie information, but also enables one to perform a search on local show times.
- Yahoo – A very popular search engine that also provided free email services.
